Montana Guided Hunts

Our Montana hunts take you deep into the heart of southern Montana’s premier big-game country, where wide-open landscapes, rolling breaks, and rugged foothills create some of the best hunting terrain in the West. We hunt approximately 40,000 acres of privately leased ranch land, giving us access to productive habitat, low-pressure game, and consistent trophy opportunity year after year.

Both archery and rifle hunts are available, offering options for hunters who enjoy close-encounter bow hunting as well as those who prefer classic Western rifle hunts. The animals in this region are mature, well-managed, and truly worthy of the effort it takes to pursue them — exactly what serious hunters are looking for.

MONTANA BIG GAME HUNTS OFFERED

Elk & Deer Combo Hunts

A 7-day hunt with both archery and rifle options available. These combo hunts give you flexibility and extended opportunity across multiple species. We recommend arriving in Sheridan, Wyoming one day prior to your hunt start date so you’re ready to go first thing.

Deer Hunts

Spend 4 days hunting on private ranches in south-central Montana. Your hunt includes hunting licenses, transportation to the hunting areas, guide services, lodging, and a sack lunch on hunt days. Plan to arrive in Sheridan, Wyoming the day before your hunt begins.

September and November Combo Hunts

Hunt archery or rifle during overlapping Wyoming Whitetail and Montana Mule Deer seasons.    

Antelope Hunts

Our 3-day antelope hunts are also based on private ranch land in south-central Montana. These hunts include transportation to and from the hunting area, your guide, lodging, field care of the game with transport to a local taxidermist and processor, as well as the appropriate hunting license. Again, we recommend arriving in Sheridan, Wyoming one day before the hunt starts.

September–November Combo Hunts
Hunt archery or rifle during overlapping Wyoming Whitetail and Montana Mule Deer seasons.

For archery hunting in Montana, hunters must provide proof of prior archery experience from another state or complete an archery education class before receiving a Montana archery permit. Hunters Safety Education is required for anyone born after January 1, 1985.  Archery permits are purchased after successfully securing the Montana hunting license. All hunts must be booked through Nelson Outfitters before applying for licenses.

Montana Outfitter clients are eligible to purchase a second preference point for an additional $100 at the time of application. This fee will be passed along to the client. Licenses issued using this point are only valid for hunting with an outfitter.All successful applicants that indicate they are hunting with a licensed Outfitter are independently verified after the draw by the Montana State Board of Outfitters and FWP.

 

Arrival & Logistics

To make your experience smooth and successful, we recommend arriving in Sheridan, WY the day before your scheduled Montana hunt begins. We will have you come out to Nelson Outfitters shooting range in Sheridan, WY, to sight in your rifle and /or bow and receive your hunting license. This ensures you have time to settle in and be ready to head to the field the next morning.
